Bringing the Midlands SQL Server community together

Midlands SQL Server User Group, being held in the offices of Wragge & Co solicitors at 55 Colmore Row in the centre of Birmingham on Thursday 13th September 2012.

Session 1: What's new in Analysis Services 2012 - Chris Webb (MVP)

Session 2: Using BIML as an SSIS Design Patterns Engine - Andy Leonard

6.00pm – 6:30pm Meet & Greet

6:30pm - 7:30pm What's New in Analysis Services 2012 (Chris Webb MVP - Technitrain)

SQL 2012 sees Analysis Services splitting into two: the Multidimensional model, which is basically the Analysis Services of cubes and dimensions that we’re all familiar with, and the new Tabular model which is very similar to PowerPivot. This session will  cover what’s new in Analysis Services 2012 Multidimensional, provide a brief overview of the Tabular model, discuss their relative strengths and weaknesses and help you decide which one is appropriate for your project.

7:30pm - 8:00pm Break & Pizza

8:00pm – 9:00pm Using BIML as an SSIS Design Patterns Engine (Andy Leonard - Linchpin People)

Business Intelligence Markup Language provides a powerful solution for creating and managing SSIS Design Patterns. Andy Leonard, one of the authors of SSIS Design Patterns, demonstrates the flexibility of BIML in this session.

1. Demonstrate how to generate multiple SSIS incremental load packages with a single click.
2. Demonstrate the power of repeatable patterns-based development.
3. Demonstrate the flexibility Biml brings to data integration development.

We'll be putting on food for the event, so please do register so we know numbers. If you then can't make it we'd really appreciate it if you'd unregister and/or let us know.

Wragge & Co's office is at 55 Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 2AS, just around the corner from the Old Joint Stock pub.
